Night Time

Only the moonlight and the lighted beacon out on the water light the beach where the creatures have gathered to enjoy the beauty of the night. The water is midnight blue and the sky is a very soft dark blue which reflects the moonlight and the beacon’s light. It is a special treat to witness the nighttime grandeur of the unending ocean and the long empty beach. They can make you feel like a very small part of the universe. It is a good time to meditate on blessings.

Imagination

The snakes at the bottom are content with their snake lives, all but one. She stretches herself to reach up like the beautiful creatures she sees swimming up and to the right where there must be something even more spectacular to see. She wants so much to be fuzzy green or fluffy yellow that she is beginning to take on those colors as they go by in their little Rose Day Parade of the sea. But most of all, she wants to be girly-girl powder pink like her favorite beautiful creature coming up next in the showy extravaganza. She especially enjoys the subtle changes from cotton candy pink to bright lipstick red, with the soft fuzzy edges incorporating both shades. Then, to her surprise, a tiny brilliant royal blue creature pops out from between the green and yellow fuzz worms. He shouts to her in a voice as if to be a royal messenger, “Dear child,” he says, “all is possible in the delightful world of dreams!”

Looks like critters under a microscope, floating and swimming and showing off their wormlike and fuzzy shapes. The colors are flashy with the blue and yellow each making the other brighter, while the green separates them and adds a soft touch to the scene.

I like the yellow complimenting the blue and the green complimenting the orange. I love the brown mixed in with the green swirls. The yellow coming from the left has an interesting outlined effect which then turns into a bright yellow blob with a little story in it, maybe a little mouse family. Then the yellow swirls up into two connecting towers. The blue overhead looks like a person flying an airplane through the swirling clouds while the orange sun sets in the west.

Peeking out of my window, I see a clear invitation to greet the day. The enticement is irresistible so I open my door and step out onto my porch. I see the dark mountain lighting up on one side. I see the tall pines and oaks beginning to glisten at their tops. The lovely dark blue sky begins to give way to a most spirit lifting streak of bright golden yellow sunshine. Only after several grateful deep breaths, do I notice the sweet sound of the stream that runs past my home. The gifts of dawn make the day worth living in a spirit of gratitude and joy.

I love this color combination, and even though you did not intentionally make eyes and faces, I see them everywhere. A purple walrus top left, a pink skate below him, a grey dog bottom middle with a purple cat to his right, a brown puffer fish bottom right, a purple jellyfish above him, a blue lobster top right, and a multicolored, blue, garnet and grey shark top center. As color wheel opposites, the yellow sky accentuates the purple. The green seems to hold the rest of the picture story together and provides areas of safety between the creatures. The purple of the walrus symbolizes magic and mystery as he climbs up into the sky of yellow which symbolizes happiness and warmth, although in modern times yellow is used in traffic lights and signs that indicate caution. Both meanings are represented here with the warmth of the sun and the caution needed to avoid the shark just below! This is an action picture, filled with a playground of color.

In reply to robert.Robert’s description has taken me on a color ride like an amusement park roller coaster and a twirly whirl ride. I can feel the movement and see the colors and even feel a bit exhausted and dizzy at the end. It is a genius view of these colors and shapes. It’s like reading a book of moving, swirling stories of colors and shapes. Each line is more descriptive that the last, ending in a story of freedom of expression. Wow!

I see a family on vacation taking a moonlight walk along the water near their campsite. The night is especially beautiful in the moonlight. The darkest of colors are shades of blue and blue/grey/brown. The family is protected by their unity. The secondary shades within each figure display their minds and their hearts and the importance of their existence and the reason for their love for one another.

I see a blue seductive eye looking around the scene. The yellow circle has two eyes and a nose. There is a brown closed fist with a thumb sticking up on the top center of the page. On top right is a hot tub. Bottom right is a dinosaur.

Four giant faces headed toward the light. Beautiful blue sky above. Spikes in the ground ahead must be navigated before entering the light.

I want to put some wording in the grey cloud which looks like a callout shape. It would be the yellow creature talking to the smaller green and yellow creature. What would it say? “Let’s invite these grey travelers to join us on our journey.” Or maybe “I like you” or “can you help me” or maybe just “I see some strangers”. It would be fun to put something silly or shocking in the callout. This painting is a bit harder for me to interpret without the faces. I miss the crazy, hysterical expressions! It will be fun to see how this works out without faces. I see a blue backpack on one of the grey travelers. The center figures look like a dolphin and a seahorse. On the right I see a dog and a cat looking off in the distance for their destination. All of the figures seem to be moving towards the right as if they are walking together. They have all “taken notice” of one another.

I see a woman reclining in a semi-dream state, reviewing her life and what has been important to her in this lifetime. Ideas and memories float by like an eclectic parade of people, places, thoughts, feelings, regrets and accomplishments. One lifetime is not enough time to experience life and discover what part one should play in the universe. The woman realizes, however, that she has had an impact and each action has had a ripple effect on the universe. She decides to continue with whatever time she has left trying to have a positive impact on the lives around her. She also wants to marvel in all the pleasures of living.

This painting seems very mysterious to me. The figures are identifiable yet foggy and vague. I can see that the center figure is quite special, and the figure to his right seems to be welcoming him.

As the story is passed from creature to creature, details become blurred and new ones added until the one last on the line gets a very new and different story and there is no telling what it might be. Amazing. Next time, I’ll write it down.

It is early spring. A winged horse flies across the morning sky, while the tiny tree frogs come up from the water to make their so very recognizable chirping sound. The bright blue water and beautiful green meadow give life to this picture, while the red swirls in the golden sky add movement and mood to set the scene for the drama of the frog orchestra.

We each have our own role in work or in life, but as in the painting above, our roles often overlap and we must work together or as a team. As the red and green create a strip of brown, cooperation on a job can be even more creative and productive than if done alone. I identify with (my favorite colors) the middle strip of pink and blue with empty white spaces which takes on color from each side but maintains a personal identity by blending what it chooses to take from the environment and making it’s own color.

I see school desks on the left and a child leaving the classroom, running to his mother on the right. Below, the teacher is happy to return home to his family as well. The pastel colors on top make me think of a younger child. Below, the darker and bolder colors make me think of more sophisticated adults.

Blessings: Bright blue sky, warm golden sunlight, lush green, productive earth, a red family welcoming the birth of a child into their world. Bottom right is one who is witnessing all of this with a GRATEFUL HEART.

On the top left I see a row of seals. Below are soft, coconut flavored strips of candy. Then, a row of birds on a wire. Top center is a drip running down the stick of a creamsicle. Top right is a blue-grey dinosaur with a turtle below him. Then a grey, grey patch of nothing, which certainly is something because of the way it makes me feel afraid. Blow that are three red sea creatures, a fish, a seal and a jellyfish feeling the warmth of the yellow sunlight shining through the water.

Round puffy purple creatures are playing on clouds of yellow, while the green plants below are influenced by their freedom of movement and playfulness.
