The part of painting i like is the bottom half to the right of the blurred blue, that portion in which color seems in service of movement. A crisp foreground of reddish purple, a few thin hooked zigzags of black and pink, retreating jagged horizontal stroking of pink topped and accompanied by the same in lemon yellow and chocolate brown with final sharp stroke of current red. My gut “i like this” is stymied when my eyes rove onto the sheets of lime green, greyed blue and the high sky of mustard yellow. The top half simply does connect for me with what the bottom half is doing.
