The cacophony of the world is too much for my deaf hears …. and maybe it is the morning, but as I look at this work, I experience a visual cacophony. I escape to the place on the left side of the painting that meets my mood—to that brown, red glossed pole on soft lime green background—-a rectangle of retreat–buffered perhaps by the reverse “L” enclosure of honey yellow with carrot stripes down the middle. The dominatrix of the remainder, a royal blue, and its motely band of beet beans, muddied yellow, overcooked red with scrub growth below , is simply too much for this submissive—compelling me to retreat to
