I had to look up Phoenix and there were several meanings. One was a bird rising from the ashes with renewed youth, and one was a reddish purple color. The figure in the center of this picture meets both of these descriptions. I see this figure as one who had a productive and strenuous life and is now rising renewed to begin again and continue his contributions on an even higher plane. Most of those around him are happy and amazed. The yellow figure on the right is sad and confused and does not understand why the Phoenix has to change or leave. She fears that she will never see him again. With his wings outstretched and a look of happy expectation on his face, the Phoenix lifts himself out of the flames to complete his renewal and begin his new contributions to those around him.
