A journal of my month in Connemara

I have been working for months on my goal of becoming an Irish citizen. I am not clear about what has moved me to do this, other than that it has been an option of my heritage from my grandfather, Walter McDonough.

I am drawn to Connemara by that heritage, and am wanting to be nurtured and inspired by this landscape of mountains and lakes and the sea.

Eileen McAlonan has welcomed me to stay in her family cottage on Killary Harbor, just west of Leenane in County Galway for the month of September. Here, I have the quiet time and space to reflect, draw, paint, and write.

This is my sharing with you of this time, as I go through my days, noticing and representing in different ways what Ireland is showing me.
